Abaco Systems delivers high performance rugged embedded computing solutions, based on industry standards and open architectures, to mission-critical applications in defence, aerospace and industry around the world. Spun out of GE in 2015, we combine the attitude and customer focus of a startup with 30 years of experience delivering rugged embedded computing products and solutions. With a team of over 800 professionals, we are committed to applying fresh, new thinking to create better ways of solving problems and delivering on commitments to our customers.

Our engineering internships are intended to provide a broad experience of development, working on a selection of projects that contribute directly to the success of the business and our customers.

We are offering the following 12-month internships starting in August 2017, based at our Towcester facility in Northamptonshire, UK.

• Electronic Engineering
  • Get involved in the design and verification of our range of rugged embedded computing products including single board computers, graphics cards and network switches.
• Embedded Software Engineering
  • Design, develop and test real-time embedded software targeted at hardware platforms hosting the latest generations of Intel and PowerPC processors.
• Mechanical Engineering
  • Model, simulate and test ruggedized assemblies that are required to function over a range of extreme environmental conditions
• Manufacturing Engineering
  • Oversee the introduction and maintenance of plant, equipment and processes to facilitate the production of a range of board and box level products
