Placement at Recol Ltd    Job role: Intern Quality/Process Engineer

Here at Recol I have learned many things in such a short space of time. This experience has become essential for my development as an engineer. The general engineering course that I am currently doing is a very good foundation however nothing can beat the actual reality of working for a company that works in the engineering industry.

When I started at Recol I became heavily involved with one client, through meetings to in depth understanding of their products. This was done so I could be able to start to learn and understand processes involving these parts so I could then create process sheets that would be used by workers to ensure the correct process was being undertaken for maximum efficiency. Later on in my placement, I was then introduced to the quality side of engineering. Quality engineering helped me understand how quality is a key aspect within engineering and taught me that quality checks always need to be done. This is because quality checks are the last process before the product gets sent to the customer and should maintain a high quality standard with the customer in mind to ensure future business can be achieved and ensure relationships between companies are maintained. Furthermore I’ve been lucky enough to participate in business trips which have helped me become more confident in myself as well as giving me an increased understanding of both suppliers and customers relating to Recol.

Overall the support from everyone here at Recol is the reason why I have had such a successful placement. This experience has been pivotal for my career progression.
